Excavation of the adjacent site uncovered petrol contaminated soil and groundwater contamination. A Phase 1 (desk study) and Phase 2 (site investigation) confirmed the limited extent of the contamination from underground petroleum storage tanks. The replacement of the tanks as part of the proposed redevelopment of the site removed the source and significantly reduced total costs
